The Reckless Squanderer
It is a story of a man who
all through his life lived a complicated life since being born and brought up
into a wealthy family was his birth right which no one could deprive him
of. Having no value for money, he spent
a good amount on shopping, gifting, clubbing, etc. Therefore, he faced many
mood swings as sometimes he would be happy, and sometimes he would sadden down.
Besides all this, he never bothered about his family or relatives. All he cared
about was just a group of selected friends he had chosen. He believed that it
was his right to choose a life partner and friends since the body structure,
complexion, family, and relatives are all destined and given by God.
Because
of his unnatural thinking, he used to cheat his parents, grandparents and sometimes
even steal from them and spend it on his friends. Moreover, he also managed to
save a substantial amount into his bank account. His friends continuously
boosted his spirits high by saying that each of them was lucky to have him
amongst their group and enjoyed extravagantly at his cost. The poor man was ignorant of the fact that
these so-called best friends were simply using him and nothing else.
His
parents were sparingly upset about such an unusual lifestyle, hence along with
other family members tried their best to make him understand and see the
correct side of the picture, but all their efforts were in otiose as his mind
was blank and his ears were deaf. It was then when his parents decided to show him
the real truth and as planned asked him to stay separately with a monthly
remuneration of a fixed amount as his pocket money. He was indeed excited at this
new given opportunity for total independence without any restrictions.
Days
passed and he was extremely happy with his new lifestyle. The pocket money
given by his parents was not enough to meet his expenditures, hence he started
withdrawing from his hidden account to satisfy the demands of his friends.
Slowly and slowly the funds were drying out and he was unaware of the
consequences till then. When the bank account was exhausted, he switched over
to his credit cards and used it to the maximum.
It was when his friends started disappearing slowly and one day he
found himself all alone with no money and no friends left around him. This
shattered him to pieces and with utter desperation, he went out in search of them.
Where
some refused to meet him, there some rejected him; others abused him on his
face turning his life upside down completely leaving him lost and isolated. He
once again went from place to place in search of help but his efforts were
of no use. He did not have the courage
to go back home to his parents and family because he now was guilty of treating
them in an excruciating manner as he had not even adhered to their advice some
time back. He had hurt them in numerous ways and now felt ashamed to face
them after all this. Depressed, distraught, and totally broken, he spent hours
and hours sitting on the streets and parks all alone.
One day he came across
Rahul, a good soul, who had once offered him a hand of friendship which he had
pompously refused then just because he was not in the good books of his
friends. This present pathetic situation he was going through was now worsening
day by day, so Rahul advised him to return to his family. Even after his
refusal, Rahul tried his best to convince him again, but all his efforts were
in vain. Still, Rahul kept a watch on him, and when on a sunny day he found him
lying down flat unattended and untouched on the street, Rahul immediately came
into action and with the help of passers-by managed to take him to the hospital
where he got him admitted. His condition appeared to be critical and knew that
no miracle was expected. Now, it was his
duty to inform his parents of the situation. As good times come unexpectedly
sometimes, it had come to him too now. His parents came to his rescue and took
the best care of him. Even though a large amount of money was spent on his
recovery, still his mother and father hugged him with lots of love and
affection. His mother cuddled him hard and firmly resolved that he shall not
stay alone anymore. His parents felt highly obligated towards Rahul since he
had indirectly moved ahead and helped him recover and reunite. His good deed
had indeed proved to be his sincere friend.
Having
friends is not bad but choosing them is definitely important because where
a good friend is capable of changing your life, they're a bad friend ruins your
life too and above all this, just love and trust your family always because it
is each of them who will always stand by you in the odd times, especially in
the hour of great need. Friends are also
important as it is because of them that we are able to ascertain the difference
between right and wrong.
“You may get thousands
of friends in a day, but to get a single good friend it can take a thousand
days because even if you have nothing in life except a good friend, mind you,
YOU’RE RICH.”
